MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — William Jay Miller, 74, of Murfreesboro, died Saturday, April 26, 2014.
A native of Hanover Township, he was a son of the late Edward and Helen Miller.
Mr. Miller was a graduate of King's College, Wilkes-Barre. Music filled his life, along with his love for dogs. He took pride in his volunteer work with AOL, Ask A Teacher Forum and earning the Volunteer in the Lights award.
Mr. Miller is survived by his wife of 54 years, Barbara Miller, Murfreesboro; sons, Jay Miller, Mountain Top, Wayne Miller, Hanover Township, and David Miller, Murfreesboro; daughter, Barbara Stevenson, Murfreesboro; sister, Penny Wright, Florida; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Evergreen Cemetery with Pastor Bill Werth officiating. Family visitation will be one hour prior to the graveside service.
Mr. Miller was a member of the Abiding Faith Lutheran Church in Smyrna, Tennessee, and a retired therapeutic activities director of the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections, S.C.I., Dallas.
