TUNKHANNOCK — Geraldine "Gerry" V. Scranta, Tunkhannock, died on Thursday evening, May 15, 2014, in the Golden Living Center in Tunkhannock. She was born in Eaton Township, Wyoming County, on Oct. 25, 1936, a daughter of the late Charles and Pearle Mock Kingston.
Gerry was a 1954 graduate of Tunkhannock High School and prior to her retirement, she was employed by the Bendix Corporation in South Montrose.
Preceding her in death was her husband, Theodore J. Scranta; son, Theodore Scranta; and a brother, Clifford Kingston.
Surviving is a son, William Banks, Harrisburg; grandchildren, Theodore Scranta and Leisa Timm, both of West Virginia, Clifford J. Scranta, Mehoopany; great-grandchildren, Alyssa Harvey, Tunkhannock, Morgan Timm of West Virginia, Bret and Derek Scranta, Mehoopany, and Theodore III and Hayden Scranta, West Virginia; a brother, Kenneth Kingston, Tunkhannock.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday from the Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home Inc., 73 W. Tioga St., Tunkhannock, with Deacon Ray Pieretti of the Church of the Nativity BVM, Tunkhannock. Interment in Eaton Brick Cemetery, Tunkhannock. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
