NANTICOKE — Mary L. Wood, 86, of Nanticoke and formerly of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Saturday, May 17, 2014, at her home.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, she was a daughter of the late Walter Walters and Erma Fiske Harding. She was educated in the Buffalo, New York, schools. For many years, she resided in the Wilkes-Barre and York areas before relocating to Nanticoke.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Gerald; stepfather, Henry Harding, who was the only father she would know growing up due to a mining accident which killed her father, Walter Walters; granddaughter, Marci Stroman; son-in-law, David Swankie; sister, Helen Laporte; brother, David Walters.
Surviving are her daughters, Donna Swankie, Nanticoke; June Ebaugh and her husband, Gregory, York; son-in-law, Shane Stroman; grandchildren, Cindy and her husband, Frank Trojanowski, Alden; Robert Nelson and his wife, Brenda, Wilkes-Barre; Jennifer and her husband, Matt, York; Jerry Greesey, Manchester, Pennsylvania; John Greesey and his wife, Belinda, Hagerstown, Maryland; nine great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren.
The family thanks the Sacred Heart Hospice and the staff at Cancer Care Associates of York, Dr. Annie T. Kannarkatt and Dr. Catterall.
Funeral services will be at noon Tuesday in the Metcalfe-Shaver-Kopcza Funeral Home Inc., 504 Wyoming Ave., Wyoming. Interment will be in the Chapel Lawn Memorial Park, Dallas. Friends may call 11 a.m. until the time of the services.
