PITTSTON — Dorothy M. Zack, of Pittston, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday June 1, 2014, in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. Dorothy and her husband, Louis, celebrated 56 years together on May 31.
Born in Pittston on Jan. 27, 1924, a daughter of Angelo and Florence Mogavero, she was a graduate of Pittston Area High School.
She retired in 1994 from Dots Cleaners, which she and her husband owned in Pittston. Prior to operating that business, she worked in the garment industry as a seamstress for various dress shops in the Pittston area.
Dorothy was a member of St. Joseph Marello Parish.
Dorothy was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, and will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She was a good Italian cook and loved cooking for her family, making the best meatballs, sauce and cannoli. She was a huge fan of the Philadelphia Phillies and the Philadelphia Eagles, and enjoyed watching the games when they were broadcast.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her mom and dad; brothers, Jerry, Frank, Maurice, Richard, Thomas, James and Albert.
She is survived by her husband, Louis; son Louis Jr.; daughter-in-law JoAnn; son Gary; daughter-in-law Adeline; grandchildren, Gary Jr., Aaron, Luke and Kira; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services have been entrusted to Graziano Funeral Home Inc., Pittston Township.
All calling hours will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
Friends may attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in St. Joseph Marello Church, 237 William St., Pittston. Those who plan on attending should go directly to the church. Services will conclude at the church.
