LARKSVILLE — Michael Andrew Sendrick Sr., 90, of Larksville, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 12, 2014, at Timber Ridge Health Care Center, Plains Township.

He was born on April 25, 1924. He was a son of the late Anthony and Anna Zifchak Sendrick.

Michael was a graduate of Larksville High School and served in the U.S. Navy, on a mine sweeper, in the South Pacific during World War II.

He retired from Metropolitan Life Insurance Co., after 25 years; prior to that, he was a supervisor at Singer Sewing Machine Co., Pittston. He was also affiliated with the Andrew Strish Funeral Home, Larksville.

Michael was a life member of St. Anthony Church, Larksville, where he was active in its Holy Name Society and served as an usher.

He was an avid Penn State fan, who belonged to many civic and social organizations including SCORE, the Taurus Club and the Kingston VFW Post #283, where he served as past post commander. He also provided transportation for Deborah Hospital patients.

Michael was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, the former Lillian C. Marckegiani Sendrick; a sister, Dorothy Pilvelis; brothers, Joseph, Andrew and Anthony Sendrick.

Surviving are daughters, Sharon Hurley and her husband, William, Keysville, Virginia, Rosemary Petrasek and her husband, Joseph, Martinsburg, West Virginia; sons, Michael A. Sendrick Jr. and his wife, Gail, Mays Landing, New Jersey, Richard Sendrick, Kingston; grandchildren, Scott and Ryan Sendrick, James and Jennifer Hurley, Derek Sendrick, Alyssa and Meredith Petrasek; great-granddaughters, Lea, Ana and Juliana; sister, Mary Siberski, Delaware; numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday from the Andrew Strish Funeral Home, 11 Wilson St., Larksville. A Mass of Christian Burial is at 10 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Church, with the Rev. Gerald Gurka officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in St. Anthony's Cemetery, Courtdale. Family and friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday and 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Monday.
