KINGSTON TWP. — Cassie Theresa Kaleta, 92, Kingston Township, passed away Friday, June 13, 2014, at Commonwealth Hospice Inpatient Unit at St. Luke's Villa, Wilkes-Barre.

Born May 16, 1922, in Kingston, she was a daughter of the late Ignatius and Anna Peciukonis Wojtanis.

Prior to retiring, Cassie was employed as a telephone operator for TASCO Answering Service in Wilkes-Barre.

She was a member of St. Therese's Church, Shavertown, and its Altar and Rosary Society.

Cassie was preceded in death by her husband, John; and her sons, John Edward and James. In addition, she was preceded in death by her 10 brothers and sisters, Stanley Kupstas, Joseph Kupstas, Frank Wojtanis, Aloysius Fotonus, Edward Wojtanis, Josephine Dubroski, Sister M. Genesia (Helen), Stephanie Romanofski, Jean McKeown and Catherine Caulfield.

Surviving are her son, Daniel, Wyoming; daughters, Charlotte Mahavits and her husband, Thomas, Forty Fort, and Carol, with whom she resided; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews, especially Lori and Joe Romanofski.

Her children would like to extend a personal thank you to Cassie's family physician, Dr. Lanning Anselmi; her nurses, Colby, Beth V. and Beth G., whose attentiveness and concern could not be appreciated enough, and to Kathy M., her aide. The family is also extremely grateful to her church family for their prayers and well wishes during her illness.

Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m Tuesday from the Harold C. Snowdon Funeral Home Inc., 140 N. Main St., Shavertown. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. in St. Therese Church, Pioneer Avenue and Davis Street, with the Rev. James Paisley, her pastor, presiding. Interment will be made in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Carverton. Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to St. Therese's Church, 64 Davis St., Shavertown, PA 18708.
