DALLAS — Lorraine Richards (nee Elmy), of Dallas, passed away June 17, 2014, at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Born in Nanticoke, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Erma Elmy. She was a graduate of Nanticoke High School, class of 1948. She retired in 2002 from Meals on Wheels of Wyoming Valley, where she served as coordinator.
She was a member of Church of Christ Uniting, Kingston, where she served on various task forces. She was an active member of Mary's Group, Adult Fellowship and volunteered with the West Side Food Bank. She was also a member of the Irem Ladies Auxiliary, Irem Antique and Car Ladies
She was a 40-year member of the Tuesday Lunch Group Girls and dearly enjoyed their company, along with her monthly luncheons with her Nanticoke classmates. She was blessed by having many friends and treasured each and every one.
She was devoted to her children, grandchildren, family and friends.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, William O. Richards; and her brother George Elmy.
Lorraine is survived by her daughters, Karen R. Shuster and her husband, Scott, Dallas; Charlot R. Byck and her husband, Louis, Huntingdon Valley; son, William W., Dallas; grandchildren, David and Eric Byck, Loren and William O. Richards II; sister, Jean Fuller, and her husband, Paul; brother Robert Elmy and his wife, Mary; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday in the Church of Christ Uniting, Market and Sprague avenues, Kingston, with the Rev. Dr. Charles Gommer officiating. Interment will be held at Huntsville Cemetery, Huntsville. Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Hugh B. Hughes & Son Inc. Funeral Home, 1044 Wyoming Ave., Forty Fort, and 9 a.m. until the time of service Friday at the church.
