Barbara Mary Toporcer

EDWARDSVILLE — Barbara Mary Toporcer, of Edwardsville, entered into Heaven on June 22, 2014, at the Neshaminy Manor, Warrington, where she was surrounded by her loving family, many wonderful friends and caregivers.

Barbara was born in Larksville, on May 21, 1923, to her parents, the late Nicholas and Mary (Novak) Talpash. She was educated in the Larksville schools and Madam Fenwick's Beauty School. She worked for many years as a beautician at Pomeroy's in Wilkes-Barre, until she started her own home where she enjoyed nothing more than being a wife and incredible mother.

Barbara was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. The doors to her home were always open and she loved company. Most importantly, Barbara was a devout Christian at St. John's Russian Orthodox Church, Edwardsville. Her faith in the Lord kept her strong for 91 years. Though she will be greatly missed, now she can rest peacefully in His arms forever more.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, John Michael Toporcer, who died on Aug. 4, 1992. Barbara was also preceded in death by her close knit and loving brothers, Harry, Nicholas, Stephen and Andrew Podolak, Michael, John and William Talpash; her sisters, Anna and Sophie Podolak Mischak and Madeline Talpash.

She is survived by her daughter, Dr. Mary Toporcer, Doylestown; grandchildren, Jacob, Sarah and Zachary Lipkin; and her son, Mark and his wife, Nicolette, Nanticoke; grandchildren, Justin, Katrina, and Sonya Toporcer. Barbara is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Mary Podolak (Nicholas), Vera Talpash (Michael) and Julia (William); many loving nieces and nephews; cousins and neighbors; and caregivers,who made every day in her life safe and happy.

Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday from the Edwards and Russin Funeral Home, 717 Main St., Edwardsville, with requiem services at 10 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Russian Orthodox Church, Edwardsville, with the Rev. George Volkovinsky, rector, officiating. Interment will follow in St. John the Baptist Orthodox Cemetery, Pringle. John Talpash, Edwardsville, Barbara's brother, will also be interned at this time. Family and friends may call at the viewing that will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Edwards and Russin Funeral Home.
