TRUCKSVILLE — Margaret M. Edwards, 101, of Trucksville and formerly of Kingston, passed away peacefully in her sleep in the early-morning hours of Sunday, July 6, 2014. In recent years, she has been residing in the Trucksville home of her daughter, Margaret E. Stone, and her partner, Bill Connor, who served as her primary caregivers.
Born in Pringle on Dec. 16, 1912, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Helen Noone Quinn. Margaret was educated in Kingston schools and was a graduate of the Wilkes-Barre Business College.
She was employed by Hess Goldsmith for many years, until its closure. Afterwards Margaret served as a sales representative in the women's lingerie department of Lazarus Department Store, Wilkes-Barre, until her retirement.
Margaret enjoyed fine art and music and was the author of an extensive array of poetry. She loved all animals and travel. Her love of travel led her throughout the United States and Europe.
She was a member of former St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, South Washington Street, Wilkes-Barre.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, was her husband, Edward Thomas Edwards, in 1991; sister, Helen Evans; brothers, Peter, Jack and Bill Quinn.
Surviving, in addition to her daughter, is son, Edward J. Edwards, and his wife, Margaret A., Indiana, Pennsylvania; six grandchildren, Mark Stone, Mountain Top; James Stone and his wife, Carol, Plymouth Township; Patricia Stone Stevenson and her husband, David, New Cumberland; Chris Stone, Harrisburg; Robert E. Edwards and his wife, Debbie, Mechanicsburg; Karen Edwards Schneider, Glen Burnie, Maryland; six great-grandchildren, Jacqueline Stone Delaney, Wyoming; Deidre Stone McGrory, Brooklawn, New Jersey, Abraham Stone, Amanda K. Schneider and Eric A. Schneider, both of Glen Burnie; Ryan E. Edwards, Mechanicsburg; two great-great-grandchildren, Zack and Zoe McGrory, both of Brooklawn, New Jersey.
Her family thanks the Hospice of the Sacred Heart for their kindness and compassion.
Funeral services will be held noon Thursday from the Harold C. Snowdon Funeral Home Inc., 140 N. Main St., Shavertown. Interment will be made in Oaklawn Cemetery, Hanover Township. Friends may call 11 a.m. until services Thursday at the funeral home.
