Mary M. Lopatto

WILKES-BARRE — Mary M. Lopatto, a lifelong resident of the Heights section of Wilkes-Barre, passed away at Little Flower Manor on July 12, 2014.

Born Aug. 26, 1916, she was a daughter of the late Atty. John S. and Mary S. Lopatto.

Mary was a graduate of Southern Seminary Preparatory School in Buena Vista, Virginia, and Beaver College in Glenside.

Mary was an elementary school teacher for the Wilkes-Barre School District where she was a second-grade teacher at Weaver School and Heights-Murray School for 30 years. Prior to her teaching career, Ms. Lopatto worked for the Luzerne County Probation Department.

She was a member of Holy Trinity Church and several state and local teaching organizations.

Her brothers, the Honorable Edward W. Lopatto and John S. Lopatto Jr., preceded her in death.

She will be greatly missed by a brother, Richard H. Lopatto, Scranton; sister-in-law, Josephine Lopatto, Wilkes-Barre; and 16 nieces and nephews.

Private services for the family are scheduled for Saturday with interment following at Holy Trinity Cemetery, Bear Creek.
