KINGSTON — Michael F. "Spike" Jacobs, 46, of North Gates Avenue, Kingston, died on Saturday, July 26, 2014, at University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, following an illness.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of Nancy (Yencha) Jacobs, Kingston, and the late Robert F. Jacobs Sr. He graduated from Wyoming Valley West High School, class of 1986, and attended Luzerne County Community College.
He was formerly employed by the Wyoming Valley Sanitary Authority.
He was very active in the community, serving as a Kingston Councilman, serving as a board member of the Kingston Municipal Community Pool and officer in the Republican Party in Kingston.
Spike was a member of Saint Ignatius of Loyola Church, Kingston. He volunteered for the Make-A-Wish Foundation and was an avid weight lifter.
His sister, Sharon Jacobs Morgan, preceded him in death.
Surviving besides his mother are his companion of 24 years, Dawn Rattigan; daughter, Kamri Jacobs, Kingston; brother, Robert F. "Rob" Jacobs Jr. and his wife, Jacquline, Kingston; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be 9 a.m. Thursday from the Hugh B. Hughes & Son Inc. Funeral Home, 1044 Wyoming Ave., Forty Fort, with the Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Ignatius of Loyola Church, Kingston. The interment will be private. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
