DALLAS — Leona F. Gorney, 88, of Dallas, passed away Friday, Aug. 8, 2014, at her residence.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, a daughter of the late Stanley and Anna Yurkin Fidrych, she was a graduate of Wilkes-Barre Township High School and Wilkes-Barre Business School. Leona had worked for GMAC Financial in Wilkes-Barre and Trenton, New Jersey, for some time and also with McGraw Hill Publishing Company, Hightstown, New Jersey.
Sewing and cooking were some of Leona's favorite hobbies.
Leona was a member of Gate of Heaven Church, Dallas.
Leona was preceded in death by her parents as well as her sons, David and Danny Gorney; a sister, Marge Dysleski; and brothers, John and Stanley Fidrych.
Surviving are her husband, Walter E. Gorney, at home; daughter, Lisa Gorney, Phoenix; brothers, Leon, Thomas and Robert Fidrych.
Funeral will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday from the Richard H. Disque Funeral Home, 2940 Memorial Hwy., Dallas, with funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in Gate of Heaven Church, Dallas. Interment will be in St. Mary's Maternity Cemetery, Forty Fort. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday.
