John T. Marks

KINGSTON — John T. Marks, 90, of Kingston, passed away Thursday, Aug. 14, 2014, in Highland Manor, Exeter.

He was born in Larksville, a son of the late William and Helen Butler Marks. He was a graduate of Larksville High School and served in the Asian-Pacific Theater as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II.

For most of his life, John worked for the Duplan Corporation until its closing, and then worked for Sunshine Markets until his retirement.

John loved life and cherished the time spent with his family.

He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Marie Surwilla; and his grandson, Chris Marks.

John is survived by his son, John J. Marks, Forty Fort; daughter, Nancy Guyette, Kingston; grandchildren, Patti Marks, Jenny Marks, Jill Widman and Kelly Guyette; great-granddaughter, Lily Croman; sister, Frances Burnott, Kingston; brother; James Marks, Florida.

The family thanks the staff at Highland Manor for their wonderful care of John.

Funeral will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday from the Kopicki Funeral Home, 263 Zerbey Ave., Kingston, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Ignatius Church, Kingston. Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Carverton. Friends may call from 8:30 a.m. until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the , Wilkes-Barre Office, 57 N. Franklin St., Wilkes-Barre, PA 18701.
