WILKES-BARRE — Raymond B. Panzak, 82, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2014, at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Born in Wilkes-Barre Township on May 24, 1932, he was a son of the late Anthony and Frances Zarosly Panzak. Ray attended Coughlin High School and he was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving during the Korean War.
Prior to retirement he was employed by the Wilkes-Barre Area School District and was earlier employed by Craft Associates. He was a member of Our Lady of Hope Parish, Park Avenue, Wilkes-Barre, and a former member of Holy Trinity Church in Wilkes-Barre prior to its closure.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Tony Panzak Jr. and Ralph Panzak.
Ray is survived by his wife of 61 years, Dorothy Walcheski Panzak; and by his children, Donna Panzak, Wilkes-Barre, Rick Panzak and his wife, Brenda, Forty Fort, Bob Panzak and his wife, Hali, Merritt Island, Florida; grandchildren, Kristen, Shelby, Elli, Vanessa and Antonio; sister, Helen Sisco, Wilkes-Barre; brother, John Panzak and his wife, Mildred, Mountain Top; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday from the Nat & Gawlas Funeral Home, 89 Park Ave., Wilkes-Barre, with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 9:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Hope Parish, 40 Park Ave., Wilkes-Barre. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
