COLLEGEDALE, Tenn. — Irvin Chester Barber, 91, formerly of Dallas, passed away Sunday, Aug. 31, 2014, at Life Care Center, Collegedale.
Irvin was born in Wilkes Barre Township, Bald Mountain, a son of the late Westley and Wealthy Coleman Barber. Irvin attended the Fairview Township schools. He was a mechanic with Procter & Gamble, Mehoopany.
Irvin was a member of the former East Dallas United Methodist Church. He was also a member of Plymouth Lodge No. 332 F & AM. Irvin was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Irvin was preceded in death by his wife, the former Pearl Mae Stiles; a son, Ernest Barber; great-granddaughter, Charlie Zook; brothers, Nelson and Merle; sister, Bessie Wech.
He is survived by sons, Irvin C. Barber, Hendersonville, Tennessee, Gary W. Barber, Ridgeport; daughter, Linda L. Culver, Sweet Valley; sister, Barbara Gardner; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in River of Life Fellowship, Outlet Road, Dallas. Those attending the funeral are to go directly to River of Life Fellowship. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Richard H. Disque Funeral Home, 2940 Memorial Highway, Dallas. Interment will be in Chapel Lawn Memorial Park, Dallas.
