J ohn W. Bohan, 86, of Nanticoke, passed away Wednesday at Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre.
Born in Nanticoke, he was a son of the late John J. and Helen Cronin Bohan. He was a member of St. Francis Church and its Holy Name Society. A World War II veteran, he served as a corporal in the Army Air Corps where he was stationed in Newfoundland.
Mr. Bohan worked as a locomotive engineer for 42 years with the Pennsylvania Railroad and the D & H Railroad where he retired in 1981.
He was preceded in death by his brother Joseph.
Surviving are his wife of 61 years, the former Cecelia Bennett; sons John, Nanticoke; Michael and his wife Linda, Nanticoke; Kevin and his wife Maria, Shavertown; Richard, Nanticoke; daughter Kathleen Duda and her husband David, Plymouth Township; grandchildren Melinda, Kristen, Michael, Kevin, Patrick and Meghan; great-granddaughter Kayla; sisters Helen Smith, Mount Pocono; and Eileen McKeon, Middleburg, N.Y.
Funeral services will be held at 8 a.m. Saturday from the Kearney Funeral Home Inc., 22 S. Prospect St., Nanticoke, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 8:30 a.m. in St. Francis Church.
Interment will be in St. Francis Cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 5 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
