Ryan M. Broghamer, 25, of Sullivan Street in Forty Fort, died Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2010. Born April 25, 1984 in Kingston, Ryan was a member of the Class of 2002 of Wyoming Valley West High School. He continued his education at Penn State University in Lehman and earned his bachelor of arts in communications and journalism from Wilkes University in 2006. Ryan had been a 911 Telecommunicator for Luzerne County for the past two years and was also active as an EMT for Swoyersville Ambulance and Deputy EMS Chief for Wyoming Hose Co. No. 1. Ryan loved life and had a true passion for music. He was a member of the Marching Band and District Band in high school, the Jazz Band, Civic Band and Chorus at Wilkes, and the Wyoming Valley Barbershop Chorus. While he was at Wilkes, Ryan was an intern for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins hockey team, and he became active with the AHL Broomball league, where he played goalie. His maternal grandparents, Fred and Regina Charnoski Sweinberg, and paternal grandparents, Joseph and Madeline O'Neil Broghamer, preceded him in death. Ryan was the wind beneath the wings of his parents, Robert and Gail Steinberg Broghamer, and his sister, Ashley. He is also survived by aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends who will miss him. Ryan's Life will be Celebrated in a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Friday in Church of Holy Family, 574 Bennett St., Luzerne. Interment will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery in Hanover Township. Visitation will be held today, from 5 to 8 p.m., at McLaughlin's Family Funeral Service, 142 S. Washington St., Wilkes-Barre. Memorial donations are preferred and may be made to Maltby Volunteer Fire Company, 253 Owen Street, Swoyersville, PA 18704.
