Walter L. Lobacz Sr., 63, passed away Monday, November 2, 2009, at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. He was born on August 1, 1946, in Brooklyn, N.Y., and was a son of the late Ludwig "Louie" and Stella Makowski Lobacz. He graduated from New York City schools and spent his young adult life working for the Xerox Corp. in New York City. He later relocated to Pennsylvania, where he spent many years in the auto sales industry. Walt was past president of the Northwest Area Little League Association and was a member of the Lake Silkworth Lions Club. He enjoyed spending as much time as he could with his bride, Sandy, and snacking on Little Debbie's Snack Cakes. Not a night was complete without his other constant companion, "Pepsi Cola." He and Sandy enjoyed traveling together and visiting all the casinos along the way. Surviving are his wife of 23 years, the former Sandy Lubinski; sister Maryann (Michael) Masakowski, of West Nanticoke; sons Walter (Denyelle) Lobacz Jr., of Noxen, and Jasen (Amanda) Lobacz Sr., of Sweet Valley; stepchildren Troy (Sharon) Lubinski, of Sweet Valley; Allison (Jonathan) Krass, of Chicago, and Lisa, of New York; the apple of his eye were his five grandsons and four granddaughters, Tony, RJ, Alex, Rachel, Eric, Evan, JJ, Giana and Ceaira; mother-in-law, Josephine Lubinski, of Sweet Valley; several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral will be held Friday at 11 a.m. from the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home Inc., corner of Routes 29 & 118, Pikes Creek, with the Rev. Jeffrey Klansek, pastor of the First Baptist Church, Wyoming, and chaplain of Hospice Care of the VNA, officiating. Interment will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Pikes Creek.
