Roynon R. "Roy" Turley, 45, of Old Newport Street, Sheatown section of Newport Township, died unexpectedly Thursday, Jan. 14, 2010, at his home. Born on January 25, 1964, in Pittston, he was a son of Ernest and Ann Marie (Stevenson) Turley, of Nanticoke. Roy lived in the Nanticoke area his entire life and graduated from John S. Fine High School, Class of 1981. He also graduated from Luzerne County Community College, earning an associate's degree in computer technology. He was employed at American Red Cross, Hanover Township, for 21 years, where he was a hospital services technician. Roy enjoyed trivia, collecting memorabilia, especially Batman and Star Trek, and was a self-proclaimed "Trekkie geek." He loved to sing, was an avid target-shooter with pistols and rifles and was a member of the National Rifle Association. He most enjoyed being a father and grandfather. Surviving, in addition to his parents, are his wife, the former Denise Foose, whom he married on October 30, 2004; daughters, Jennifer Tabbit and her husband, Joseph, Hughestown, and Jessica Buydos, at home; a son, Jonathan Buydos, at home; granddaughter, Elizabeth Ann Tabbit; his sister, Laura Crocker and her husband, Daniel, Lancaster, Pa.; nieces, Sarah Marie Crocker and Emily Marie Crocker; as well as aunts; uncles; and cousins. Funeral services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Monday from Davis-Dinelli Funeral Home, 170 E. Broad St., Nanticoke, with the Rev. Michele Kaufman, pastor of St. John Lutheran Church, Nanticoke, officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 5 p.m. until the time of service.
