Debra Sobieski Obituary

February 15, 2010

Miss Debra Ann Sobieski, 54, of Short Street, Edwardsville, formerly of Wilkes-Barre Township, passed into Eternal Life unexpectedly Monday morning, Feb. 15, 2010, as an emergency patient in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. Born September 7, 1955, in Wilkes-Barre, she was a daughter of the late Bernard Florian and Dorothy Irene (Sharksnas) Sobieski. Educated in the city schools, she was a member of the 1973 graduating class of the James M. Coughlin High School. Until her retirement, Debra was employed as a data administrative clerk for 30 years for the Social Security Administration, Plains Township, and formerly of Wilkes-Barre. Debbie is remembered by family and friends as being a devoted band mother who encouraged her children to participate and further their musical talents. She had a deep-rooted love of life, her family, and spending time with her grandchildren. She spent hours chatting online with her various Internet friends and sharing her family's many stories. She was a member of Saint Joseph/Saint Mary's Parish Community, and enjoyed working the annual parish bazaars at Saint Joseph's Church in Wilkes-Barre Township, where she previously attended Mass. Debbie is survived by her beloved children, Matthew; Bernie and his fiancee, Pearl Goss, all at home; Dotty Ann Daniels and her husband, Donny, of Nanticoke; grandchildren Tyler Miles, Isabella Diane, and will be sadly missed by her loving pets. Relatives and friends are invited to join Debbie's family for visitation and remembrances Thursday evening, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the John V. Morris-Charles J. Leagus Funeral Home, 281 E. Northampton St., Wilkes-Barre Heights. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of floral tributes, memorial donations in Debbie's memory will be accepted at the funeral home to assist her children, or can be made to the SPCA of Luzerne County, Fox Hill Road, Plains Township, PA 18705, or to the Hospice of the Sacred Heart, 600 Baltimore Drive, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702.
