Thomas A. Luder Sr., 63, of Duryea, passed away Tuesday, November 16, 2010, at home. Born in Taylor, he was a son of the late Karl and Theresa Ryzner Luder. He was a graduate of Northeast High School, class of 1964. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam Era. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by Schott Glass, Duryea, for 33 years. Thomas was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Duryea. He was a member of the Westside Social Club, Avoca, and the VFW Post 1227, Duryea. He was an avid fisherman. He was a loving father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his son, Thomas A. Luder Jr.; and brothers Karl Jr. and Arthur. Surviving are his wife, the former Judy Ash; daughters Tammy Russick and her husband Paul, of Duryea, and Lori Remus of Pittston; daughter-in-law Barbara Luder of Duryea; grandchildren Paul Jr. and Alyssa Russick; Angelica, TJ and Josh Luder; and Gracie and Rebecca Remus; former wife Loretta Nayavich Luder, to whom he was married to for 34 years; sisters Doreen Luder of Harding; Sandra Hanczyc and her husband, Gary, of Harding; and Christine Atwell and her husband, Robert, of Muncy, Pa.; aunt Frances Tompkins of Harding; as well as nieces and nephews. Funeral will be held at 9 a.m. Friday from the Bernard J. Piontek Funeral Home Inc., 204 Main St., Duryea, with the Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Duryea. Interment will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery, Duryea. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
