Jule Matchko, 89, of Plains Township, died Friday morning, December 3, 2010, at her home. Born in Jenkins Township, she was a daughter of the late John and Mary (Makata) Hrab. Jule was educated in Jenkins Township Schools and was employed as a Seamstress in the local Garment Industry, retiring in 1983. She was a member of the I.L.G.W.U. Jule was a member of St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church, Wilkes-Barre. She was preceded in death by her husband, John J. Matchko, on February 10, 2005; grandson, Anthony Gainard; brother, Kelly Hrab; sisters, Marie Jenosky, Marge Pronovich, Helen Burke and Ann Mitchell. Surviving are her son John (Jack) Matchko, at home; daughters, Judy Gainard, Medina, Ohio;Mary Bernoski, Laflin, and Betty Chaney, Harrisburg; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy Granahan, Manville, N.J., and Catherine Zurla, Jenkins Township; as well as several nieces and nephews. An Office of Christian Burial with Divine Liturgy will be held at 9 a.m. Monday in St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church, Wilkes-Barre, with the Rev. James Hayer, Pastor, officiating. On the day of the Funeral, friends are invited to go directly to St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church. Interment will be in St. Michael's Cemetery, Pittston. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Corcoran Funeral Home Inc., 20 S. Main St., Plains Township.
