Judith A. Walsh Eckersley, 66, of Greentown, Pa., died peacefully in her sleep Tuesday, December 28, 2010, at her home. Her husband of 40 years is B. Loc Eckersley. Born December 10, 1944, in Scranton, she was a daughter of the late James and Romaine (Ross) Walsh. Judy and her family enjoyed a life in the foreign service of the United States. Over their almost 25 years of service, she, her husband and two children lived in six different countries around the world. Theirs was a life of adventure, yet with a constant focus on family. When her husband retired from the foreign service in 1993, she settled in the Scranton area, residing in Greentown. She founded Greentown Day Care Center in 1996 and managed the center until she retired in 2005. Her love of children and their development was appreciated by the community and was second only to her love of her two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, James Walsh Jr. and Robert Walsh. Surviving, in addition to her husband, are one son, B. Parc Eckersley, and wife, Cathy, of West Pittston; one daughter, Kira J. Mecca, and husband Dan, of Tallahassee, Fla.; and two grandchildren, Ayla Eckersley and Angelo Mecca. She is also survived by her siblings and their families, Mary Sabatella, Michael Walsh, Theresa Reynolds, Patrick Walsh, Brian Walsh, Kenneth Walsh, Kevin Walsh and Susan Walsh. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in the Howard J. Snowdon Funeral Home, 1810 Sanderson Ave., Scranton. Officiating will be her sister-in-law, the Rev. Linda Eckersley, pastor of Court Street United Methodist Church in Scranton. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions can be made to
