John Zielinski, of Duryea, passed away Tuesday morning, January 11, 2011, at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township. Born in Duryea, he was a son of the late Joseph and Martha Delengowski Zielinski. He was a graduate of Duryea High School. He was employed by Nativity of Our Lord Parish (Holy Rosary Church), Duryea, for over 60 years. John was a member of Nativity of Our Lord Parish (Holy Rosary Church), Duryea. He and his wife, the former Victoria Chesslock, would have celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary on February 14, 2011. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are son Ronald Zielinski and his wife, Caroline, of Fort Wayne, Ind.; son John Zielinski and his wife, Jo Anne, of Moosic; daughter Mary Ann Lazar and her husband, Dr. Richard, of Plains Township; son Gerald Zielinski and his wife, Mary, of Fairport, N.Y.; son Robert Zielinski and his wife, Lori, of Wilkes-Barre; 10 grandchildren; sister Stella Sikorski of Voorhes, N.J.; sister Alice Dollard of Dallas; brother Edward Zielinski of Wilkes-Barre; as well as nieces and nephews. Funeral will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday from the Bernard J. Piontek Funeral Home Inc., 204 Main St., Duryea, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in Holy rosary Church, Duryea. Interment will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery, Duryea. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the John Zielinski Award for Service at Holy Rosary School, Duryea.
