Rose Gemberling Obituary
Rose A. Gemberling, 79, of Shavertown, passed away Monday, May 2, 2011, in the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, where she had been a patient for some time. Born in Trout Run, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Hilary and Etta Holcomb Schmouder. She was a graduate of Williamsport High School, class of 1949. She and her husband, Charles Gemberling, moved to the Back Mountain in 1975. Rose and her husband, Charles, celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary on January 22, 2011. She was employed at the UFCW Federal Credit Union for a short time. Rose was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Surviving, besides her husband, are daughters, Holly J. Gemberling, Dallas, and Robin Brown, Sayer, Pa.; sons, Scott Gemberling, Shavertown, and James M. and his wife, Patty Gemberling, Lake Silkworth; 10 grandchildren; as well as numerous great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews; sisters, Mary Eloise Fisher, Montoursville, and Joanne Pennala, Omaha, Neb.; and brother, Hilary Schmouder, Montoursville. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday from The Richard H. Disque Funeral Home Inc., 672 Memorial Highway, Dallas, with the Rev. William Lewis officiating. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday. Interment will be in Chapel Lawn Memorial Park, Dallas. Donations, if desired, may be made to American Diabetes Association, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18773.
