Rose Russin, 74, loving Mom, Gram, aunt and friend, of South Walnut Street, Nanticoke, passed away Monday afternoon, Oct. 29, 2012 at Hospice Community Care, inpatient unit at Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre.

Born on July 24, 1938 in Glen Lyon she was a daughter of the late Louis Tonini and Josephine Andrezze Tonini Rasmus. She attended the Newport Township schools.

Rose had been employed in the local garment industry for many years and later as a private-duty nurse's aide for the past 15 years. She had been a notary public for many years and was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Glen Lyon, earlier in life.

Her main interest in life was her home and family and in her spare time she enjoyed trips to the casino with her niece, Kathy.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepfather, Joseph Rasmus and her sister, Lucy Canarini, who died on Dec. 24, 2007.

Surviving are three children, daughter, Lisa James, of Ashley, and her significant other, Joe Politz; sons, David Russin of Nanticoke, Mark Russin of Swoyersville; eight grandchildren; a brother, Joseph Rasmus, and his wife, Diane, of Hunlock Creek; four nieces, three nephews, and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 9 a.m. from Davis-Dinelli Funeral Home, 170 E. Broad St., Nanticoke, with Pastor Timothy G. Hall, of Nebo Baptist Church, Nanticoke, officiating. Interment will follow in Italian Independent Cemetery, Glen Lyon, Newport Township. Visitation will be Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
