Susan Smith Baber Pembleton, 58, of Harveys Lake, passed away Nov. 5, 2012, in Hospice Community Care, after a lengthy illness.
She was born Oct. 17, 1954, in Wilkes-Barre and was a daughter of the late Raymond B. Smith and Beverly Smith-Meeker of Forty Fort.
Susan graduated from Wyoming Valley West High School and attended Penn State University. She began her gemology career at the GIA Lab in New York City certifying diamonds. Susan's artistic talents and knowledge of precious gems was displayed in the jewelry she designed and showcased in her business, Wrap it Up! Jewelers. Her love of animals is continued through her daughter, Alyson, who is in veterinary school.
She was preceded in death by her nephew, Raymond Kilduff.
Susan is survived by her daughter, Alyson Baber, currently in Ireland studying; her sister, Linda Loughlin, and husband Skip, Cape May, N.J.; her extended family through her stepfather, Robert Meeker Ill.; nephews, Dr. Patrick Kilduff and wife Erin, Dallas; Lynn Kilduff, Kingston; Matthew Loughlin and wife Jillian, Cape May, N.J.; nieces, Jane Kilduff-Molino and husband Michael Molino, Shavertown; Sarah Laughlin and her fiancé, Jerry Benson, Wilkes-Barre. She is survived by five grand-nieces and nephews. She is also survived by ex-husbands and friends, Lee Baber and Bernard Pembleton.
Friends may call Saturday at the Hugh B. Hughes Funeral Home in Forty Fort from 10 to 11 a.m. The Memorial Service at 11 a.m. will be conducted by the Rev. James Paul with interment at Memorial Shrine Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers and for her love for animals, donations may be given to the SPCA.
