Anna Purdy, 84, of Harding, formerly of Carbondale, died suddenly Thursday morning, Nov. 8, 2012, at Regional Hospital of Scranton, shortly after admission and surrounded by her family.
She was the wife of the late Clarence Purdy, who died in 1971.
Born in Simpson, she was a daughter of the late Andrew and Mary Scerbak Horvath. While in Carbondale, she was a member of St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale. She was a graduate of Fell High School, Simpson. Prior to her retirement, she was employed by Specialty Records, Olyphant.
She was a kind and caring mother and grandmother who will be very much missed by her family.
Surviving are two sons, Edward Purdy, with whom she resided, Joseph Purdy and wife, Mary Fran, Whites Crossing; two grandsons, Jared and Marcus Purdy; and one sister, Mary Transue, Scranton.
She was also preceded in death by a son Clarence "C.J." Purdy.
The funeral will be Monday with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale. Interment will be in Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Finch Hill. As per her request, a private viewing will be held and family and friends are asked to go directly to the church on Monday morning.
