Frank X. Kurilla, 62, a resident of Beachwood, N.J., passed away on Saturday evening, Nov. 24, 2012, at Community Medical Center, Toms River, N.J.
Born in Kingston, Frank was a son of the late John and Julia (Hetro) Kurilla. Frank lived in Swoyersville and later Wilkes-Barre until moving to Beachwood with his family in 1984. Frank, or "Frannie" as he was known by his closest friends, attended King's College in Wilkes-Barre, where he was a member of their 1970 National Championship Club Football Team. He first met his beloved wife, the former JoAnn Plesic, in 1974, and the two were engaged within six months of meeting each other. He has since been working for IBM for over the past 30 years.
Frank was preceded in death by his wife of nearly 25 years, JoAnn; his brothers, John, Andrew and Joseph Kurilla; his sister, Mary Nardone.
Surviving are his sons, Anthony Kurilla and his fiancée, Sarah, of Beachwood, N.J.; Frank Kurilla Jr. and his wife, Tanya, of Hackettstown, N.J.; his brother, Michael Kurilla, and his wife, Kathy, of Swoyersville; his three granddaughters; several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 11 a.m. in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, 116 Hughes St., Swoyersville. The Family will receive friends on Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family would ask friends and family to consider a donation to the
or Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Local funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Wroblewski Funeral Home Inc., 1442 Wyoming Ave., Forty Fort.
