Dec. 10, 2012

Mary A. Kozicki, 92, a resident of Ashley, passed away on Monday evening, Dec. 10, 2012, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family.

Her beloved husband was the late John Kozicki, who passed away on Oct. 19, 1983. Together, John and Mary shared 43 years of marriage.

Born on Sept. 7, 1920, in Pottsville, Mary was a daughter of the late Stephen and Eva (Treschak) Demchak. Mary was raised in Plymouth and had resided in Ashley for more than 60 years. Prior to her retirement, Mary was employed in the local garment industry, she was a faithful Catholic and longtime member of Our Lady of Hope Parish, Wilkes-Barre.

A woman of many enjoyments, Mary loved to read the newspaper, especially the comic sections. Mary also enjoyed spending time with her very special granddaughter, Erika, and her very special great-granddaughter, Lauren, whom Mary loved to play bingo with. She was caring and loving toward everyone. She always remembered both her friends and neighbors on their birthdays with a card, a call or just a kind word. Her graces of thoughtfulness, compassion and kindness inspired many. Her presence will be greatly missed, but she will always be remembered for the difference she made in so many lives and for touching so many people with her great big heart!

In time, the sadness will fade and disappear only to be replaced by sweet memories echoing in our minds. We will smile when we remember her and we will allow warm thoughts to flood our souls. When we are sad, we will just look for her, as she will be only a memory away.

In addition to her parents, Stephen and Eva Demchak and her husband, John, Mary was preceded in death by her sons, John, Edward and Joseph Kozicki; her brother, Joseph Demchak; her sister, Katherine Pstrak.

Mary is survived by her daughters, JoAnn Kozicki, who was her caregiver and with whom she resided; and Evelyn Smith and her husband, Daniel, of Hazlet, N.J.; her seven grandchildren; her six great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; her beloved cat, Salem.

The Kozicki Family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Joseph Radzwilka and also to Mary's special nurses, Mary Ellen, Sandy and Carol from Celtic Home Health. Additionally, the family would like to thank the Podiatry Associates of Kingston, the Bureau of the Aging, the Center for Independent Living, Home Mobility Solutions and her special neighbors for all helping her in her time of need.

Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial, which will be celebrated on Thursday at 9:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Hope Roman Catholic Parish, 40 Park Ave., Wilkes-Barre, with the Rev. John S. Terry, her Pastor, officiating.

Those who are attending the funeral are kindly asked to assemble directly at the church as there will be no procession from the funeral home. Interment with the Rite of Committal will follow in Saint Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township.

Family and Friends are invited to call today from 5 until 8 p.m. at the Joseph L. Wroblewski Funeral Home, 56 Ashley St., Ashley.
