Ralph Blackwell Jr., 69, of Center Moreland, passed away Tuesday morning, Dec. 25, 2012, in the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Born on March 8, 1943, a son of the late Ralph Blackwell Sr. and Agnes Smith Blackwell, he was a graduate of Tunkhannock Area High School, Class of 1961, an avid trumpet player and president of the high school marching band. After high school, he attended Penn State University and Wilkes University. Prior to his retirement, he was employed at Procter & Gamble for 32 years, and after retiring he also was employed part time at Little Flower Manor and St. Therese Residence of Wilkes-Barre. At one time, Mr. Blackwell was one of the largest grain and tomato farmers in the area.
Surviving are his children, Sarah Blackwell, Center Moreland; Ralph Blackwell III, Scranton; Kelly Blackwell, Maryland, and Lisa Blackwell, Maryland.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday in the Nulton-Kopcza Funeral Home, 5749 state Route 309 (Beaumont) Monroe Township, with the Rev. Nanci L. Lycett of the Center Moreland United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in the Marsh Cemetery, Center Moreland. Friends may call Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
