Nov. 24, 2012

On Nov. 24, 2012, Jack passed away peacefully from complications due to a fall.

Jack was from Philadelphia and a graduate of La Salle College. He started his career in Philadelphia climbing telephone poles. Jack moved to Dallas in 1965 and went on to climb the corporate ladder within the telecommunications industry. He retired in 1989 as a vice president at C-Tec Sterling Communications, a Sordoni Company. Jack's interests included music, reading, community, travel, skiing, golf and football. Jack was a skilled sailor who spent many weekends on his boat either at Harveys Lake or on the Chesapeake Bay. Those who knew Jack found him to be fair - an educated, intelligent businessman who could see an end with numerous solutions while others were trying to figure out the problem. Jack loved to laugh and made friends wherever he went. In retirement you would find Jack "on the water or near the water" in Naples, Fla. He volunteered with the Coast Guard Auxiliary and taught safe boating classes. Jack enjoyed helping others and always was eager to teach and share his wisdom. "Heller" loved life and enjoyed each day to the fullest!

He is survived by his wife Marge and daughter Susan.

On Jan. 11 at 11 a.m., the family will hold a "Jack's Return to the Sea - Celebration of Life," during which the Coast Guard will be taking the group offshore to have a small service. Immediately following, all are invited to the clubhouse at Hunters Ridge Golf and Country Club where we will be having lunch and sharing "Jack-isms." Please bring stories, photos, memories and laughs to share. RSVP to Susan at (239) 248-8000.
