Dale Rinker, 87, formerly of Blackman Street, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013 at the Riverstreet Manor in Wilkes-Barre.

He was born in Shavertown on July 9, 1925, a son of the late Dale and Carrie Deitrich Rinker. Mr. Rinker attended GAR Memorial High School and he was an Army veteran, serving in the Pacific Theater, during World War II. Prior to his retirement, he had been employed for 40 years as a mechanic and later as a manager at Roxeann's Swimwear in Wilkes-Barre. He was a longtime member of Plains American Legion Post 558.

Mr. Rinker enjoyed time with his family and friends at summertime outings at the Onawandah Campgrounds in Tunkhannock.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Anne Pearson Rinker, in 2009. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Jack, William, Arthur, Merril, Robert, Lee and Joseph Rinker.

Surviving are son, Dale W. Rinker, and his wife, Barbara, Sweet Valley; daughter, Jane Ann McMannus, and her husband, Robert, Wilkes-Barre; grandchildren, Lauren and Kirby Rinker; Alison, Abby and Lindsey McMannus; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10 a.m. from the Nat & Gawlas Funeral Home, 89 Park Avenue, Wilkes-Barre, with the Rev. James C. Quinn, pastor of the Bennett Presbyterian Church in Luzerne, officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township.

Friends may call on Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
