Jane P. Ash, 73, of Shavertown, loving wife, mother and grandmother, passed away Monday, Jan. 21, 2013, at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, following a brief illness.
She was born in Trucksville, on Feb. 12, 1939, and was a daughter of the late John F. and Jane Hughes Polk.
She graduated from Westmoreland High School and was a graduate of the Wilkes-Barre Business College. She was employed by the Dallas School District, Leslie Fay and most recently EMS Management Systems Inc., from which she retired in 2005.
Jane was a member of the Dallas, Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, and a former member of the Irem Temple Ladies Auxiliary. Her hobbies included quilting, gardening, knitting and camping, and her passions included spending time with her four grandchildren, traveling with her husband and playing with her Shetland sheepdog, Abby. Jane and her husband celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in Sept. 2010.
Surviving are her husband of 52 years, H. Robert Ash; son, John R. Ash, Ph.D., and his wife, Patricia, Sweet Valley; daughter, Pamela J. Hoffmaster, and her husband, Terry, Sinking Spring; grandchildren, Michelle, Christopher and Matthew Ash, and Jared Hoffmaster; also surviving are a nephew and two nieces.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. from the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home Inc., corners of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek, with the Rev. Charles Grube of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Dallas, officiating. Friends may call Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Memorial Shrine Park, Franklin Township.
