Miss Shirley L. Watkins, 84, lifelong resident of Plains Township, died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, at Manor Care Health Services, Kingston.

Miss Watkins was born in Plains Twp., daughter of the late Harry and Eloise Lockhart Watkins, and was a graduate of Plains Memorial High School. She had been employed as a secretary by Plains Manufacturing Co. for many years.

Shirley was a devoted member of the Plains United Methodist Church and had been a member of the choir and the United Methodist Women of the Plains Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Ralph, Thomas and Glenn Watkins; sister, Mary Watkins; and niece, Mary Drako.

Surviving are several nieces and nephews, including Florence A. Campbell; Glenn, Candace, Thomas, Kenneth and Ralph Watkins, and Debra Zavada.

A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family in Mt. Greenwood Cemetery, Trucksville. There will be no public visitation or service.

The family requests that memorial donations, if desired, be made in Miss Watkins' name to Plains United Methodist Church, 133 N. Main St., Plains, PA. 18705.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the H. Merritt Hughes Funeral Home Inc., a Golden Rule Funeral Home, 451 N. Main St., Wilkes-Barre.
