Everett Matthew Black, age 2 1/2 years old, died Friday, Feb. 22, 2013 in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
He was born in Augusta, Georgia, son of Dr,. Robyn Wirsing Black and Matthew Black, Swoyersville and had attended Little Tykes Day Care, Swoyersville. He loved Elmo, balloons, Christmas balls and swimming. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Donald Black and Linda Johnston.
Surviving, in addition to his parents, are: maternal grandparents, Dr. Kim and Dr. Charles Wirsing, Augusta, Georgia; step-mother, Diane Black, Ottumwa, Iowa; aunts and uncles, Mick and Jackie Hernandez, Augusta, Georgia; Dr. Deborah Wirsing, Eugene, Oregon; Dr. Michael and Karen Black, Omaha, Nebraska; cousins, Christopher and Caroline Hernandez, Augusta, Georgia; Brandon and Morgan Black, Omaha, Nebraska and great-aunt, Wan Soo Kim, Augusta, Georgia.
Funeral will be held Saturday, March 9, 2013 at 3 p.m. from the First Baptist Church, Augusta, Georgia with interment in Westover Memorial, Augusta. Friends may call at the Thomas Poteet & Son Funeral Home, 214 Davis Road, Augusta, Georgia on Friday, March 8, 5 to 7 p.m. Local viewing will be held Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the H. Merritt Hughes Funeral Home, Inc., a Golden Rule Funeral Home, 451 North Main Street, Wilkes-Barre. The family requests that flowers be omitted and that memorial donations in Everett's name be made to: Operation Smile,
or to Make-a-Wish Foundation to benefit other children.
