Anne L. Wittman, of the Parsons section of Wilkes-Barre, passed away on Tuesday evening, April 30, 2013, at her home.

She was born and raised in Wilkes-Barre, a daughter of the late August and Elizabeth Lawler Wittman. She was a graduate of Coughlin High School and also graduated from St. Mary's Hospital School of Nursing, Scranton. For several years, she did general-duty nursing at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. Later, she attended Misericordia University and received a bachelor of science in nursing education.
She was appointed to the teaching faculty of the Misericordia University nursing department. Anne did post-graduate studies at The University of Scranton and was awarded a master of science degree in counseling and guidance. She was appointed to the guidance department of Wilkes-Barre Area School District, where she worked until her retirement.
Anne enjoyed traveling, vacationing and playing golf and bridge. She was a member of the Wilkes-Barre Retired Teachers Association and Hollenback Golf Club. She was a life-long member of St. Benedict's Parish, formerly St. Dominic's, and the Women's Catholic Council.
Surviving are her sister, Marie Kilgallon, with whom she resided; cousins, Nancy Doran, Shelter Island, N.Y., and James Conway, Branchdale.
The funeral will be held Saturday at 11:30 a.m. from E. Blake Collins Funeral Home, 159 George Ave., Wilkes-Barre, with a Mass of Christian Burial at noon in St. Benedict's Church. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township. Friends may call Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
