Elizabeth "Betty" Landmesser, 93 , of Nicholson Street, Wilkes-Barre, formerly of Regent Street, passed into eternal rest on Monday at Geisinger South Hospice Unit.
Elizabeth was born in Pottsville, on Dec.r 14, 1919 and was the daughter of Mary and John Morgan of Pottsville. She was a member of St. Robert Bellarmine Parish (formerly St. Aloysius), Wilkes-Barre, and volunteered for 20 years at the annual bazaar as chairman of the doll booth and later became known as the "Doll Lady." In her younger years she was a hairdresser by trade but worked most of her life in retail at S.S Kresge's and American Clothing. She graduated from Hanover High School and was a graduate of Madame Fenwick's Beauty School.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Ronald D. Landmesser; brothers, Leo, Joseph and William Engle, and sisters, Marie Hughes and Josephine Williams; as well as son-in-law Andrew Evanoski Sr.
She is survived by daughter, Debra Evanoski; grandchildren, Holly Evanoski and Andrew Evanoski Jr. along with his wife, Shara, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Robert Bellermine Parish (St. Aloysius Church), Wilkes-Barre. Interment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Desiderio Funeral Home Inc., 679 Carey Ave., Hanover Township.
The family requests those attending the funeral mass Thursday to assemble at the church.
