Patricia M. Malone, 76, of West Wyoming, passed away Monday evening, surrounded by her family, in the Riverside Rehabilitation and Nursing Home of Taylor.
Born in Espy, she was a daughter of the late George and Sarah (George) Grey. She was a graduate of Berwick High School, Class of 1954, and the Nesbitt School of Nursing. For many years, along with her husband, Hugh, she owned and operated Valley Woodcraft Lumber Co. Inc., formerly of West Wyoming.
Pat was devoted to her family and church. She shared her gift of music through her voice and piano with her children, church and friends. Her greatest joy was being with her children and grandchildren, and she always attended their extra-curricular activities: soccer, ice hockey, track, dance recitals, orchestra concerts and more. She could be found cheering them on or beaming from ear to ear with pride in their accomplishments.
She had the patience of a saint, the strength and determination of a bull, a heart of gold, only words of kindness, the voice of an angel, never-ending compassion and the love of everyone she knew.
She was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church of West Pittston, where she served as an elder, clerk of session, deacon, Sunday school teacher and choir member. She was also very active in the Order of the Eastern Star, Harmony Chapter 58, Wyoming, and was a past worthy matron. Her love for music and the Lord continued with her participation in the Every Voice Choir. She also served as an advisor and on the board of Harmony Assembly 74 Rainbow Girls and was a past secretary of the West Wyoming Ambulance Association.
Preceding her in death was her grandson, Shawn Malone.
Surviving is her husband, Hugh H. Malone Sr., with whom she would have celebrated 57 years of marriage on June 23; children, Margaret Beth Christ and her husband, Daniel, Kingston; Hugh H. Malone Jr. and his wife, Deborah, West Wyoming; Amy Gromel, West Wyoming; Daniel Malone and his wife, Claudia, Sellersville; grandchildren, Jessica Malone, West Wyoming; Brian Gromel, West Wyoming; Emily Christ, Kingston; Connie Malone, Sellersville; Judy Malone, Sellersville; brothers, Richard E. Grey and his wife, Barbara, Mariposa, Calif.; C. Garth Grey and his wife, Jane, Norwich, N.Y.; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff of Riverside Nursing Home, especially Karen and Bernice, for their exceptional love and care; Drs. Fasciana and Marina and Mona; and the Rev. Gray from Compassionate Care.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday in the First United Presbyterian Church of West Pittston worship site at St. Cecilia's Church, 1700 Wyoming Ave., Exeter, with the Rev. James Thyren of the First United Presbyterian Church of West Pittston officiating. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in the Pine Grove Cemetery, Berwick. Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the Metcalfe-Shaver-Kopcza Funeral Home Inc., 504 Wyoming Ave., Wyoming.
