Theresa Kaluzavich, 86, of Pittston, passed away on Wednesday at Highland Manor, Exeter.
Born in Pittston on Oct. 2, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Zofia Novabilski. Theresa attended St. John the Baptist School and Jenkins Township High School. She was a member of the former St. John the Baptist Church, Pittston, and recently had been a member of St. John the Evangelist Parish Community, Pittston. Prior to retirement, she was employed in the cigar industry.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John; sisters Mary Lakowski, Sophie Novabilski and Julie Novabilski; and brothers Joseph and William Novabilski.
Theresa is survived by son, Robert Kaluzavich (Carol), Pittston, and daughter, Patricia Stanchak (John), Marietta, Ga.; grandchildren, Rob Kaluzavich (Maria), Kingston; Carmel Kratz (John), Greentown; Michael Kaluzavich (Maria), Punta Gorda, Fla.; Rita Giambra (Matt), Wyoming; Ann Kaluzavich, Camp Hill; David Kaluzavich, Pittston; Melissa Evans (Will), Flowery Beach, Ga.; and Katie Stanchak, Medford, Mass.; great-grandchildren, Claire Kaluzavich, Emma Kratz, Molly Kratz, Ryan Kaluzavich and Charlie Evans; brother Bernard Novabilski, Old Forge, and sister Margie Piskorik, Illinois.
The funeral will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Kizis-Lokuta Funeral Home, 134 Church St., Pittston. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. in St. John the Evangelist Church, William Street, Pittston. Interment will be in St. John the Baptist Slovak Cemetery, Exeter. Family and friends may call 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
