HANOVER GREEN — Virginia (Zieker) Lahr, 78, of Hanover Green, died Friday, April 8, 2016, at her home.
Born June 19, 1937, in Wilkes-Barre, she was a daughter of the late Dorothy (Metzner) Zieker.
A graduate of Hughestown High School, Ginny earned her nursing diploma from Passaic General Hospital School of Nursing and continued her studies at Rutgers and Wilkes universities.
Ginny practiced nursing for a few years before marriage and dedicated the rest of her life to caring for her family.
Her husband of 43 years, Charles H. "Chic" Lahr, died Sept. 16, 2002. A brother, Donald Zieker, also preceded her in death.
Ginny will be greatly missed by her daughters, Lisa and her husband, Dr. George Sivak, of Poland, Ohio, Laura and her husband, Celwyn Evans, of Mohnton, and Leigh Lahr, of Hanover Green; grandchildren, Charles Ryan Lahr, Alex Colarusso, Morgan and Llewellyn Evans; her aunt, with whom she was seemingly attached at the hip, Faith Kozick, of Apache Junction, Arizona; other family and friends.
Ginny's entire family is grateful for the loving care she received from the staff of Celtic Hospice.
Celebration of Ginny's life will be held Saturday with visitation from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at McLaughlin's, 142 S. Washington St., Wilkes-Barre, followed by a funeral Mass at 2 p.m. in the Church of St. Nicholas. Interment will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery.
Memorial donations are preferred and may be made to Sisters of Christian Charity, 254 S. Washington St., Wilkes-Barre, 18701.

Leigh and family,
