Alan Parker commissioned me to paint the 200th Travel Inn at Woking. This painting was presented to Sir Michael when he officially opened the hotel. I was so pleased that Alan kindly introduced me to Sir Michael after the ceremony, he told me he liked the painting and he very much liked the yellow sports car that I had put in the painting. When Alan then commissioned me to paint the opening ceremony, I remembered Sir Michael's reaction to the car and included it into that painting also. This was the only time that I met Sir Michael, but he made an impression on me, as he was such a pleasant man. Please accept my sincere condolences at this very sad time.
