Shirley J. Smith 1943 - 2015
72, of Dover passed away on Monday, Dec. 21, 2015 at the Community Hospice House following an extended illness. Born on June 5, 1943 in Dover, she was the daughter of the late William and Fredia Helen (Cragio) Spencer. She is also preceded in death by her grandson, Eric Pryor, and her sister, Linda Feutz.
She was a 1961 graduate of Dover High School. On June 10, 1962 she married the love of her life, Donald M. Smith, who survives.
She was a loyal employee of Buehler's Foods for over 30 years. She greeted each customer with a smile. She worked at the service center and was also the head cashier. Shirley was a member of the Church of Christ in Dover. She enjoyed flowers and gardening. She loved spending time with her family; especially her grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Don, she will be missed by her children; Ginny Pryor of Alabama, Ron (Lisa) Smith of Dover, Jim Smith of Kentucky; six grandchildren, Jessica (Brian) Peacock, Tara (John) Stockert, Clark Smith, Spencer Smith, Josie Smith, and Nate Smith; four great-grandchildren, Christian Stockert, Harrison Stockert, Ali Beth Peacock, Emma Kate Peacock; and her brother; Glen (Linda) Spencer of New Philadelphia.
Friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover on Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2015 from 4-7 p.m. In honoring her wishes, cremation will take place. Those unable to attend, or who would like to share a fond memory of Shirley may do so by visiting the "obituaries & flowers" link on the funeral home's website. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Community Hospice, 716 Commercial Ave SW, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663, or Church of Christ in Dover, 230 E 4th St, Dover, OH 44622.

Sorry I missed visiting hours last evening I have happy memories of our family times Shirley really fought the good fight but she's in a much better place now May God comfort you in this time of grief

Don and family, you have our deepest sympathy. Shirley was a very special person and I have many fond memories of her. Regretfully we will be out of town on the 23rd and cannot make it to calling hours. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family and Glen and Linda.
