Doris Buckley Obituary

Doris Jeanette Buckley
age 74, of Caldwell, Ohio, received her final healing and call from God Sunday, April 6, 2014 at her home. She was born April 12, 1939 in Caldwell, a daughter of Clela L. Willey DeLancey of Caldwell and the late Clifford E. DeLancey. Doris attended the former Forest Grove School and graduated from the former Belle Valley High School. She always enjoyed discussing her studies on Anthropology at the Ohio State University. She loved people, her gardening, playing her guitar and singing. She will always be remembered for her faith and activity in the United Methodist Church. She was awarded 2 Life Awards for her work with the United Methodist Women, which are recorded in New York City.
She served for many years along, side her husband in many churches, serving as pastor of visitation, liturgist, Sunday school teacher among many other roles. She held her membership with The United Methodist Church of the Savior in Canton, Ohio. For the past 10 years she has been active and loved the St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Port Washington, Ohio, where she was a choir member and loved singing in cantatas. She enjoyed baking, and was a master quilter as a member of the Stitch and Chatter Quilting Club. Doris will long be remembered as a caring, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
In addition to her father, she is preceded in death by 1 sister Marilyn Faye DeLancey; father-in-law Rodney E. Buckley; 2 brothers-in-law Harry Mettler and Arthur Zudell. She was loved and will be missed by her family, husband Rev. Dr. Robert E. Buckley, whom she married June 15, 1957; 1 son Robin E. (Doree) Buckley of Caldwell; 2 daughters Atty. Sharon E. (Dr. Morteza) Buckley Mirhaidari and Chrystal L. Buckley Smith all of Dover, OH; 8 grandchildren Nichole Buckley Piskula, Robert and Justin Buckley, Dr. Shayda, Gabriel (Medical Student), Zacharia (Medical Student within 1 year) and Cyrus (Medical Student within 2 years) Mirhaidari and Christopher Smith; 5 great-grandchildren Alex, Brandon, Katlynne and Emma Piskula and Jazmyn Buckley; 2 sisters Shirley Mettler of Dexter City, OH and Marsha (Kevin) Greenhoe of Caldwell; mother-in-law Daisy Buckley and sister-in-law Barbara Zudell both of Caldwell and her husband's aunt Patricia Buckley West of Sarahsville, OH whom she always enjoyed. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Friends will be received Thursday April 10, 2014 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm at the Chandler Funeral Home, 609 West Street, Caldwell, OH 43724. A funeral service will be held Friday April 11, 2014 at 11:30 am in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dr. Jack Dearth officiating. Burial will follow in the Hiramsburg Cemetery in Hiramsburg, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the St. Paul's United Church of Christ Endowment Fund, 114 N High St. PO Box #36, Port Washington, OH 43837. Dear Rev. Buckley and Family, You have my deepest sympathies and condolences. Your loss will be felt by so many that are here to help and comfort in any way possible. I enjoyed singing with Doris in the contatas. She will be sorely missed by all who were blessed to know her. You and your family are in my prayers.
