Bair, Joan Wright  
Joan Wright Bair 78, passed away Jan. 25, 2015, with her husband of 57 years, Jack (NPHS Class of '54); and daughters Laura O'Connor (James) of Solon, OH, and Julie Van Diest (David) of Bedford, OH, at her side. She was preceded in death by her son, Jack Bair Jr. in 1998. She was born in East Liverpool on Sept. 18, 1936, and married Jack on Jan. 25, 1958, at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. She taught art in Kenston Schools for 24 years, then retired with Jack to Beaver Cove, Maine, for 20 years. They returned to Ohio in 2012, catching up with old friends and spending time with their daughters' families and granddaughter, Caitlin. Private interment at a later date. Baker, Carol Louise Osmann  
Carol Louise Osmann Baker While surrounded by her family, went home to be with her Lord, Jesus, Jan. 23, 2014. Born Sept. 11, 1927, to Carl Louis Osmann and Beatrice Ulricha Patterson Osmann, both deceased. Carol married Charles Frederick Baker, May 1, 1946. Chuck preceded her in death Dec. 4, 1999. Their children are Christy (Barry) Walker, Rick (Melissa) Baker, Charles (Kathy) Baker and Shirley Baker, deceased 1968; grandchildren: Barry Jr. (Holly) Walker, Robert (Jan) Walker, Bryon (Tracy) Walker, Carrie (Larry) Johnson, Richard (Karen) Baker, Dawn Martin and Doug Baker; 26 great- grandchildren and two great- great grandchildren complete Carol's family. Carol leaves a legacy of love, faith and prayer and her greatest desire is for her entire family to know Jesus as she did. Carol enjoyed life which included traveling, reading, crafts, mission work and spending time with her family. Carol also loved going to her grandchildren's school and sporting events. Carol's two sisters are Minnie Borland (deceased), and Genevieve Howell of Camarillo, Calif. Services for Carol will be at 6 p.m. Monday, Jan. 26, 2014, with calling hours from 4-6 p.m. at Lifeway Church Assembly of God, 742 Cookson Ave., S.E., New Philadelphia, OH. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be directed to Lifeway Church or Hospice House, New Philadelphia.

Baker, Ernest Paul "Ike"  
Ernest "Ike" Paul Baker 85, of Dover passed away on Saturday, Jan. 24, 2015, at his home surrounded by his family. Born on Oct. 10, 1929, in Bolivar, he was the son of the late George H. and Elizabeth (Mohart) Baker. He attended Bolivar High School. On Jan. 20, 1956, he married Rita Cox, who survives. Ike honorably served our country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He was a talented welder and worked for Sparta Ceramics East Sparta, Crown Steel in Orville, Metco in Navarre and retired from Gross Welding in New Philadelphia where he worked for ten years. He was a member of St. Johns United Church of Christ in Dover; and the American Legion in Delaware. He loved John Deere and Nascar. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching the Indians, Browns, and Cavs. In addition to his wife of 59 years, Rita; he will be missed by son, Steven Paul (Susan) Baker of Hudson; daughter, Mary Jo (Tom) Fahrni of Canton; four grandchildren: Lindsay, Zachary "Zach", Andrew "Drew" Baker all of Hudson and Nicole Fahrni of Canton; sister, Evelyn Mushrush of New Philadelphia, Ohio; sister in-law, Gladys Baker of Strasburg; several nieces and nephews; and his k-9 companion, Johnny. Ike is preceded in death by his infant brother, Kenny Baker; brother, Roland "Baldy" Baker; brother in-law, Arthur "Pete" Mushrush; nephew, Roland James Baker; and his niece, Brenda Baker. A celebration of Ike's life will be held at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover on Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2015, at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Thomas Dunkle officiating. Interment will take place at Dover Burial Park where the Dover VFW will conduct military honors. Following the service of committal, a meal will be served at the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Tuesday, (Today) Jan. 27, 2015, from 5-7 p.m. Those unable to attend, or who would like to share a fond memory of Ike may do so by visiting the "Obituaries & Flowers" link on the funeral home's website. Barkman, Raymond J. - McConnelsville  
Raymond J. Barkman 81, of McConnelsville, Ohio took his heavenly flight from his earthly home on Thursday, Jan. 29, 2015. His eight children were by his side when he passed from this life. Raymond was born in Holmes County, Ohio on Dec. 13, 1933 to John and Elizabeth "Lizzie" Barkman, who preceded him in death. Raymond married Clara E. (Mullet) on Oct. 14, 1954. They were married for 47 years. Clara preceded him in death on Nov. 4, 2001. All who knew him heard him speak of her with great love and affection. They had eight children, Elizabeth Sue Beachy (R. Merle) of Free Union, Va., Ervin John (Martha) of Bird-in-Hand, Pa., Martin Jay (Rosseta) of McConnelsville, Ohio, James Alan (Christina) of McConnelsville, Ohio, Joel Dean (Patricia) of Catlett, Va., Clement Dale (Michelle) of McConnelsville, Ohio, Gaylord Yost (Celesta) of Beach City, Ohio, (currently serving in missions to Thailand), and Marcus Lael (Cheryl) of Harlan, Ind. They had 39 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Raymond was ordained a minister in 1973 and ministered until several months before his death. He was Bishop of Ebenezer Mennonite Church in the McConnelsville/Malta area from 1975-2005 when he retired. His passion was to "spread the fame of Jesus everywhere he goes". Soon after his wife's death, he served as a chaplain for Christian Aid Ministries at sites set up to rebuild areas ravaged by natural disasters. He was the charter tele-counselor in 2006 for CAM's billboard ministry and served there until health disallowed it. Raymond and Clara had also served as missionaries to Belgium for nearly 2 years. In addition to his ministry, he was also a carpenter and a farmer. He and Clara had purchased the Eldon Eppley farm on Dutch Hill, providing a place that the family could work and grow up together. He loved the house of God, his family, and the land. Raymond also loved snow with great passion. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Anna Mae Troyer, and a brother, Emmanuel Barkman. Surviving are two brothers, Albert of Lakeland, Fla., and Atlee of Walnut Creek, Ohio. Viewing will be held on Monday, Feb. 2, 2015 from 1-4 and 6-8 p.m. The funeral will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2015 at 10 a.m. with son-in-law Merle Beachy, and Pastors LaVerne Yoder and Jonas Beiler officiating. Each will be held at Cornerstone Full Gospel Church at 4509 Salt Creek Drive Duncan Falls, Ohio 43734. Burial will be in the Ebenezer Mennonite Church Cemetery. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Christian Aid Ministries PO Box 360 Berlin, Ohio.
