Alice Katherine Lea
age 96 of Millersburg, Ohio passed away Tuesday April 1, 2014 at Smithville Western Care Center, Smithville, Ohio.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 12 noon Saturday at Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg, Ohio. Graveside services will follow at 1 p.m. Saturday at Oak Hill Cemetery, Millersburg, Ohio with Rev. Matthew Wald officiating. Family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Holmes County Education Foundation, P.O. Box 226, Millersburg, Ohio 44654 or to LifeCare Hospice, 2525 Back Orrville Road, Wooster, Ohio 44691.
She was born Feb. 10, 1918 in Winfield, Ohio and was the daughter of Hayden and Katherine (Buese) Minard. On Oct. 19, 1940 she married Thomas Lea. He preceded her in death on March 21, 2003.
Alice was owner, along with her husband, of Tom Lea Tire in Shreve. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Millersburg. Alice was active in school organizations, Girl Scouts, 4-H and Rainbow Girls. She and her husband enjoyed gardening, refinishing antiques and collecting moustache cups.
Surviving are three daughters, Ruth Ann (Richard) Weiner of Pahoa, Hawaii, Nancy (Lou) Kaluza of San Antonio, Texas and Beth Lea of Wooster, Ohio; special daughter-in-law, Joanne (Stan) Bassak of Uniontown; three grandsons, three granddaughters; two great-granddaughters; and one great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Tom Jr.; grandson, Josh Weiner; brother, Lloyd; and sisters, Edna Hachtel, Gertrude Minard and Ruth Herman.
The family would like to thank Greenfield Assisted Living Center, Smithville Western Care Center, LifeCare Hospice and the Route 241 neighbors for all the love and outstanding care they gave to Alice.
