Andrew C. "Andy" Fantin
67, of Newcomerstown, passed away at his home on Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2014 after a lengthy illness. Born May 10, 1946 in Dennison, he was a son of the late Fidelmo Walter and Anna Phyllis (Haleski) Fantin. A lifelong resident of the area, Andy was a graduate of Uhrichsville High School in the class of 1964. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War before returning home to a 25 year career in the local railroad industry, having been a lineman for CSX (the former Conrail) Railroad. He was a member of the Uhrichsville Moose, the New Philadelphia V.F.W., and was a former member of the New Philadelphia Army-Navy Club and Uhrichsville Eagles. In his spare time, he loved camping and watching racing, football and golf.
Andy is survived by a daughter, Angela K. Fantin and her daughter, Raelynn Foster, of Mansfield; a daughter, Annette Behringer and her son, Cody Behringer of Florida; a sister, Phamey (Robert) Cox of New Philadelphia; a brother, Thomas Fantin of Uhrichsville; and several nieces and nephews, including Larry Ott and Patrick Cox with whom he was especially close. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Sam McBeth; brothers, Fidelmo, Bill and Louis Fantin; sisters, Brenda Joyce Fantin and Kay Carpenter; a half-sister, Josephine Tauzel; and a half brother, John Romacko.
In keeping with Andy's wishes, he has been cremated without a public visitation or service. He will be interred in St. Mary's Cemetery near Dennison.
