Charles W. Baker
85, of Uhrichsville, passed away on March 27, 2014 at Beacon Pointe Rehabilitation Center following a lengthy illness. Born May 27, 1928, he was a son of the late Charles Dwain and Gladys Louise (Morgan) Baker. Charles proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War before returning home to begin his long career as a driver for many area trucking companies. A longtime member of the Grace Untied Methodist Church, Charles was a devoted husband father who loved spending time with his family, especially on their frequent camping trips. He also enjoyed attending his daughter's horse show events.
On Dec. 26, 1952, he married the former Marjorie Lou Watson who survives him. He is also survived by their children, Cheryl (Robert) Jeffers of Dennison, Chuck (Kim) Baker of New Philadelphia, and Caralee (Rod) Cooper of Scio; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren, as well as his sisters, Betty Baker-Stanley of New Philadelphia and Jayne Baker of Ormond Beach, Fla.; a brother, Rick (Maryanne) Baker of Uhrichsville; a sister-in-law, Joyce Greco of New Philadelphia; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Harry and Virginia Baker, and a great grandson, Kaden Barker.
Services for Charles, officiated by Pastor Larry Malterer, will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, March 31, at the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Interment will follow in Freeport's Greenmont Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. Those wishing to honor his memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to Grace United Methodist Church and Community Hospice of Tuscarawas County.
