Donald Gene Dennis
Age 84, of Newcomerstown, died Friday, May 16, 2014, at Union Hospital. He was born Wednesday, Dec. 25, 1929, in Newcomerstown to the late Walter and Caroline "May" (Porcher) Dennis. Don proudly served his Country as a member of the U.S. Navy, having served from 1946-47. He was a member of the VFW in Columbus, the Newcomerstown American Legion Post 431; and he also served as the treasurer and was very active in the Newcomerstown Senior Center. He was employed for 25 years as a bus driver in Columbus.
He is survived by his son, James Dennis and his wife, Elaine of Delaware; and his daughter, Donna Jean "Jeannie" Baron-Yenerall and her husband, Joe of Pulaski, Pa.; his brothers, Charles Dennis of Newcomerstown and Dick Dennis and his wife Grace of Pennsylvania; his sister, Judy Smith and her husband Ted of West Lafayette; a half-brother, John Dennis and his wife, Vickie of West Lafayette; numerous grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and his companion, Marilyn Hendershot of Newcomerstown. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Danny Dennis.
Services will be on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the Addy Funeral Home with Rev. Ken Hacker officiating. Burial will be in West Lawn Cemetery where military honors will be conducted by the Newcomerstown Veterans Honor Guard. Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 from 5-7 p.m. at the Addy Funeral Home. Online condolences may be made at:
