Edsel David Dillon
age 74, of Doylestown, Ohio went home to be with the Lord, Aug. 18, 2013 following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born April 17, 1939 in New Milton, W.Va. and resided most of his life in the Dover-New Philadelphia area, having graduated from New Philadelphia High School in 1958. Edsel retired from the State of Ohio EPA, working in the engineering department. He also served as State EPA chapter union president. Edsel previously served in the Ohio National Guard. He also served in the mounted division as a reserve in the Tuscarawas County Sheriff Department. He was an avid horseman and enjoyed trail riding, contesting, and helping 4H members train their horses. He enjoyed field trialing beagles, finishing an AKC champion, as a member of the Buckeye Beagle Club where he previously served as president. He enjoyed playing volleyball with friends and watching the Browns, Cavs, and Ohio State sports. His greatest joy, however, was spending time with his children and grandchildren. Edsel was preceded in death by his mother, Bonnie (Davis) Dillon and his sister, Robin Tice.
He will be sadly missed by his family including his wife of 34 years, Diana (Malone) Dillon; his father, Robert T. Dillon; children, Megan (Keith) Bailey, Tammy (Dwight) Kerby, and Edsel T. (Kathi) Dillon; a sister, Wanda Denzer; brothers, David (Susan) Dillon and Don Dillon; along with 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Aug. 22, 2013 beginning at 11 a.m. in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory at Dover with Rev. LuAnn Youngman officiating. Interment will be in the Ridgecrest Memory Gardens followed by a reception in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center.
